Air Service Enterprise serving for national economy was established on February 26th, 1987 under the Decision numbered 64/TCHK of Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam. The initial major tasks are aerial photography and geological survey flight. In 1990, the enterprise was received the AN-2 and AN-30 fleet as well as facility, workforce from Flight Crew 919 and carried out the additional task in domestic cargo transportation and flight training.
On April 19th 1993, the enterprise was renamed to Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) under the Decision numbered 737/QĐ/TCCB-LĐ of Ministry of Transport. From May 27th 1996, Vietnam Airlines Corporation was established and VASCO became a member of Vietnam Airlines Corporation
When being changed to the company model, beside traditional activities such as aerial photography and geological survey, VASCO has widened and diversified its activities in the ecomony
From 1993 to 1997, VASCO cooperated with Helijet, Region Air, Seoul Air, Tex Air and Helicopter New Zealand… for taxi –travel flight, oil industry power line transmission and erection, search & rescue, medical evacuation services, maintenance geological survey, seeding flight to afforest … by helicopters and airplane.
From 2001 to 2006, VASCO joined cargo transportation market by flighting to Indochina countries for Vietnam Airlines and from Ho Chi Minh city to Subic bay of Philippine for FedEx.
VASCO was certificated the Aircraft Operator (AOC) in 2001 and Maintenance Organization (VAR-145) for King Air B200 aircraft in 2002 by Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam.
According to Vietnam Airlines’s orientation, since May 2004, VASCO has officially transported passengers from Ho Chi Minh city to Southern domestic airports, opened a new page in its history of development.
From 2004 to now, VASCO has been got strong pace of developments, average growth rate is 15% per year. Flight routes are expanded to Ca Mau, Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Rach Gia, Can Tho …. in which VASCO plays a role as commuter airline for Vietnam Airlines.
Along with activities in service flight, VASCO also takes a role as a multifunctioning airline when carries out the operation and maintenance service for private aircrafts
